A Message from the Community Manager
Hi guys, happy Cinco de Mayo!
You all know I love a good party, and even though I can’t throw one this year, I’m still going to celebrate.
This afternoon we had turtles from Gomez for lunch, YUM, and we are getting tacos to go from Djangos for our Cinco at Home fiesta this evening.
A few years ago, the Cincinnati Art Museum hosted a Cinco de Mayo celebration honoring Frida Kahlo- I might have had a little too much fun at the flower station.
This newsletter is an attempt to recreate the good times at the Viva La Frida event with crafts, music and recipes so you guys can have a Cinco at Home fiesta, too!
I linked the photos from the event below for some inspiration. Now go celebrate! Love you, mean it.

DIY Paper Flowers
Ok, mine obviously didn't turn out as perfectly beautiful as the ones shown above, but making these paper flowers is actually harder than it seems.
I linked a step by step tutorial with video assistance on how to make these and let me tell you, patience is key.
It is worth it though! The results are very festive and it's an affordable way to add a pop of color to your fiesta.

The Margarita, 30 Ways
No one knows exactly who made the first margarita, but I’m sure glad they did.
One of the most famous origin stories is that Carlos “Danny” Herrera concocted the drink at his Tijuana restaurant around 1938 for a picky customer, an aspiring actress, Marjorie King. Legend has it, he combined the elements of a traditional tequila shot- salt and a lime wedge- and turned them into a drink.
Another contending story is that Margarita Sames, a wealthy Dallas socialite, whipped up the drink for her friends at her Acapulco vacation home in 1948. Tommy Hilton was at the party and eventually added the drink to the bar menu at his hotel.
Regardless of who created the cocktail first, it is a drink that hasn’t gone out of style.
